Step-by-Step Guide In Making A Flipbook Animation

3dflipbook Step by Step Guide In Making A Flipbook AnimationWhat is a flipbook animation?

A flipbook animation is a series of images that varies in each page of a flipbook. The imagesin each page of a flipbook may turn into an animation when each page is turned rapidly. Usually, flipbook animation is found in children books but adults also find it fun to do and instead of putting a series of drawings, adults usually put a series of photographs to make it look more realistic and lively.

How to make a flipbook animation?

Flipbook animation is not really hard to do. Here are the steps on how to make a flipbook animation:

  1. Materials: The materials you need to make a flipbook animation are small memo pad or a flipbook, and a dark pen. If you don’t have a memo pad, you can cut some papers in the same sizes, maybe in 3×4 inches and paste the upper edges of the papers together so you can make a flipbook.  It can be 30 to 40 pages. Make sure to have a card board to bind all of it together or an index card will do. The pen should be felt-tip and make sure that the ink does not go through the pages, so you won’t mess up with the next page. If it does, you may use a correction fluid.
  2. After you have gathered all of the materials you need, you can now start to draw your images. You have to start on the last page of your memo pad, because your flipbook animation will go from the back to the front or the last page to the first page of the memo pad.
  3. If your animation is a man walking in the street, you have to start drawing a man that is still standing in the street on the last page of the memo pad or flipbook. On the next page, make sure that you can see through the image from the latter page to the next page, so that it would look like the image is really moving when you flip the pad. You may use thin paper or a darker pen. Draw the same image on the next page but in a slightly different position. If in the first page the man is still standing on the street, on the next page, you can draw a man that is slightly stepping his foot on the street and the next goes on and on, depending on what you want your animation to look like.
  4. If you are done with the images, you can now start to flip the pad to see your flipbook animation. You have to hold your memo pad or flipbook at the top with your left hand and use your thumb in the right hand to flip the pages from the bottom to the first page and now you can see that your images are moving and that is now called the flipbook animation.

To make a more realistic flipbook animation, your images or drawing should move very slowly. Flipbook animation is fun to do but you have to have an extra teaspoon of patience to do it.
